The PlayStation Network users received a word of warning from Sony. The
alarm signal refers to a possible breach in the security. Because of
it, the legitimate users’ private details can be accessed by the wrong
people.
On the official PlayStation
website, regarding the consumer alerts section, immediately appeared a
statement given by Sony: "We have found out that there has been a
possibility of unauthorized access to personal information on the
PlayStation Store through PCs, a content download service of the
PlayStation Network".
And this is not all. It ispossible that passwords might have been changed and unauthorized people could have looked through user’s personal data.
Here
are again the exact words expressing the concerning: "Although
unlikely, it is possible that the passwords of a small percentage of
PlayStation Network users may have been changed through unauthorized
access, making it possible to view users" personal information and/or
use the Wallet for the PlayStation Store". Yet, although unauthorized
users have passed the security measures, full credit card numbers
aren’t displayed by PlayStation Store.
Of course, according to
Sony, the necessary, "immediate measures", have been taken for
appropriately solving the security related problem.
Serious
investigations are taking place in the same time. Sony desires to find
out if "the extent of unauthorized access and possible alteration of
passwords that could have occurred before corrective measures were
taken, and are directly contacting customers who may have been affected
by this incident". Costumers must be announced about this issue.
More,
Sony gave them the advice of trying to sign into the service, in order
to assure their account wasn’t broke up or damaged.
